Texas is heaven and Austin is the center. The only thing wrong with Austin when I lived there was they didn’t put up barbed wire and demand a pasport to get in.

Isn’t a Bahr either a alcoholic beverage or a place to get one? (I’m not from Boston so I am not familiar with the pronunciation!)

Had that record when I was a kid. Played it over and over, while wearing my ‘coon skin cap! Ah, the 1950’s!

I loved Austin because of its motto. The rest of Texas was mostly just annoying.

tcar-1 said, about 18 hours ago@neverenoughgoldMy dad ran a Firestone store. Mine was red and was Firestone tow truck! Can you imagine what they’d be worth if we still had them!

The blue car was accidentally run over by a neighbor when I “parked” it in the street. My dad bought me a fire truck as a replacement, and I kept if for years. I’m pretty sure Mom sold it in a garage sale after I moved out.

I do know what they can be worth today, as I have a friend who restored a couple pedal cars for a local Oldsmobile dealer and he paid my friend with a brand new Oldsmobile 98 Regency for his work!

Oh, Brian! How you brought back fall afternoons after school, when the air was hazy and long shadows came early and the world had limitless possibilities. Thank you!

I was going to say that I remembered the original Davy Crockett Show, but I discovered it aired in 1955-1956, which would have made me 3 years old, and besides that, my parents didn’t buy a tv set until I was about 4 or 5. Up until then they had a big floor radio. Gawd, I feel old all of a sudden! :-(

Kirk Austin = San Francisco? An adequate analogy. Austin far right? Only when “the only Lege we’ve got” is in session. You are in the far right section of the state, where churches burn down because their crosses just naturally ignite.
