Frank Sutton was really in the service and fought in the Pacific in WWII.

Good point, Red; that’s not something you want to do on the battlefield.

Love all the cultural references in this strip that I can identify with. I was just a little older than Red during the time R&R was set.

I know this strip is set in the past, but this one could be today too. With all the retro TV stations, Gomer Pyle, USMC comes on every day.

Shazam! Opps, surprise, surprise, surprise! The enemy just spotted us. Love this reference to an old favourite. I liked Jim Nabors in Andy of Mayberry too.
