The great thing about being Red’s age is that he isn’t that big yet. So he and Rover comfortably fit in his bed. My Rugby always has me sleeping on literally the edge of the bed before the night is over. Manifest Destiny, so Rugby thinks, ha!
Translation: the parents want some man and woman time. The phrase “man and woman time” was one I heard back when some friends and I did a day hike on a part of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. We hiked past a family (mom, dad, two young kids, grandmother). The mom and dad were ahead of the others and, as we hiked in between them, the kids ran forward to catch up to the mom and dad. The grandmother called to the kids saying “You kids get on back here and let your parents have man and woman time.” I knew at that very moment I would not forget that phrase.
If it’s a reasonable bedtime of 10 PM Saturday in eastern Australia, it would be 2 AM Saturday in the Cook Islands, just east of the International Date Line, right? If it’s 7 PM, it would be 11 PM Friday across the line. How does that make it a school day?
