It is always the little dogs. We have taken to calling our smaller dog Mugsy because he mugs the Doberman (who cowers in fear, poor gentle soul that he is) and steals his bones! Every time!
The smaller the dog, the bigger the fight instinct. Which is sometimes a genetics thing, b/c small dogs were bred to be fighters of small critters; rats, cobras, badgers, mice, ferrets, weasels, stoats, etc. (Yes, I know cobras are snakes & badgers ain’t eggs-ack-lee small.)
