I remember when I flew with my folks as a kid to Florida (from JFK) being led into the cockpit so I could see all the instruments, etc. Even got to meet the pilots. A very impressive experience for a little kid. Sadly, 9/11 and secure cockpit doors put a stop to that. “Security” has ruined many childhood experiences nowadays, like riding in a switch engine while the crew was moving freight cars. Today, you can’t get very close to freight yards anymore. Sad.
Oh come on Red, you dad is an aerospace engineer, surely he can get you a set of Jr. Astronaut wings instead. I still have a pair I got when I was a kid.
