But he can hear the sound of a cheese wrapper at 600 yards.

So is mine evidently. But little do people realize (because I don’t have a big sign saying so) my ADHD is at fault.

My Lizzie is the same way! Selective hearing! I hope that is the backyard and not the front. Just being protective of my little darlings!

Reminds me of the Steven Wright joke.

“I have a dog named Stay. Come here Stay. Come here! Stay!”

We found that if we hit the alarm button on our outdoor cameras, the cat makes a beeline to the door and wants in – lot easier than calling her.

I’m not sure why I so frequently waited until my parents yelled at me to respond when I was little. I heard their quieter attempts and didn’t like being yelled at. My best guess is that I was highly reluctant to give up concentrating on whatever first had my attention.

Rover CAN hear… a box of Milky Bones being opened from a block away.

Cats, not dogs, are the pets who won’t come when called.

My mom swore our Old English Sheepdog had (Rover’s) selective hearing. Sometimes he was there in a flash, and other times he just made it as we’d given up and were about to close the door.

You properly test a dog’s hearing by softly shaking a box of Milk Bones behind at least two doors while they’re outside. If they are woofing at the kitchen door before you get there, they are normal.
