My first experience with Poison Ivy was at age 51. It was the September I bought my house, and was trimming the hedges that surround the property. I suffered the itching and oozing for a long time, and now always keep a bottle of Tecnu in the medicine cabinet. I also learned everything I could about Poison Ivy, and now keep far away from the hedges ever since — the dogs, too. Also, I read that anyone not born in North America is unlikely to be sensitive to it. A neighbor who grew up in Ireland told me he can roll around in it without a reaction. However, another neighbor, from Macedonia, who takes care of my lawn, is not so lucky. I gifted him a bottle of Tecnu.

Calamine bath here he comes. I never managed a whole body rash, just my arms once or twice.
