Rover wishes to return the squeaky toy he has swallowed. Will he be able to cough it up or puke it up or will he have to wait to return it out of his other end?
This can happen! My sister had a great dane, knocked the “whistle” out of her squeaky toy as I was watching. She was ready to chow down on it when I beat her and grabbed it.
Newton loves squeaky toys but has always chewed off the appendages of stuffed toys—ears, legs, tails—so he rarely gets one, and when he does, he can only have it with intense supervision. True to form, he received a stuffed squeaky reindeer for Christmas—it now lacks one ear and one antler (opposite sides), which were quickly retrieved before he could actually eat them.
My dog is no longer a puppy, but still has sharp enough teeth that she punctures the pillow-style squeakers. Poor girl was disappointed that her Christmas pickle no longer squeaks!

Maybe it’s just too early in the AM, but I don’t see the humor in today’s strip.

Rover killed it! Happens to all squeaky toys sooner or later.
