cherry blossom lore as early as 600 years ago american indian tribes living on the patowmack river recog-nized the unique charm of the cherry blossom tree indian 1: those things are going to attract kitsch-starved tourists like flies. indian 2: and how. george washington, bitter over a childhood incident, detested cherry trees of any kind and had to be forcibly restrained from chopping them all down. advisor: sir! don't! the tourism industry was a major contributor to your presidential campaign! washington: ow! leggo! it would take a stack of 21,467 pancakes to equal the height of the washington mon-ument if you made them with buttermilk.* * this is not cherry blossom lore. i'm sorry.

“But you can put cherries on top of the Washington Monument! This is a common tourist practice, and is encouraged in months that do not have an “R” in them."

Building code requires adding more egg to the pancake mix to improve their earthquake resistance.

Fun, but none of it is accurate cherry blossom lore. The famed Washington DC cherry blossom trees were given the US by Japan in 1912.It only feels like 600 years ago.

I live right down the street from George’s place at Mount Vernon. Lucky me. See Real estate tax, Fairfax County, Virginia, Mount Vernon Area.
Oh well. I’ve only been here for forty years.
The tourists cant get enough of the place and walk in the middle of the street as I try to dodge them and their tour buses. I’ll get one one of these days.
In the meantime, George’s distillery is going great guns making overpriced booze for his fans. This is no joke. They fired up the still just a few years ago and sell out all that crap that they can make.
Come and see us in Northern Virginia. There is a Frank Lloyd Wright home and Woodlawn Plantation within a mile or so of Mount Vernon.
p.s. Please bring money. The roads are full of holes.
