Photostomias Guernei, a species of deep-sea fish, has retractable bioluminescent lights built into its head! 31-year-old Wang Youping of Shaanxi, China, hasn't been able to close his mouth for more than 20 years due to his overgrown, 9 1/2 inch long tongue!

A good point gm997. They do seem to be prevalent in these areas. When I was doing my medical training we learned about some of these conditions and a number of them came because parasites, infections, bacteria, micro insects etc, were picked up in less developed areas from the food the people there ate and picked up walking about barefoot. Some of the problems the people had in these parts of the world were pretty horrific.
