They have a nursing school named in her honor at Aultman Hospital, in Canton Ohio, with a life-size bronze statue of her in the commons area outside. She was a classmate from Canton South. RIP, and a salute, Ms. Lane.

“…the only female member of the U.S. military killed by enemy fire during the Vietnam war…” Many other military women members of “the other side” were killed. A half dozen or so female members of the U.S. military died during the war but not as a result of enemy fire,

@WilliamShortWell, as a Viet vet (USMC, ’68-"69) I believe it was essentially to make the wealthy and powerful evermore so. And the same with Iraq and A-stan. And I mean no disrespect to vets and their families, only to the wealthy and powerful.

1st Lt Lane RIP. You survived in country for only a month and 9 days when a Soviet made rocket slammed into the hospital ward in which you were working. You definitely earned your medals.

She was from N. Industry Ohio by Canton.

That war (and yes, I was there) was not all about making people rich. Times were different then. Many of us believed that we were there to help a nation stay free.
