The compass termites of Australia build 10 foot high wedge shaped nests that always face from North-South, keeping the insects cool because the broad side of the nest faces away from the hot midday sun. Chile qualified for the 1974 soccer World Cup by winning a game with no opposition- Russia refused to play for political reasons, so Chile started the game, kicked the ball in the goal, and won the match in front of thousands of fans. Human dandruff, fingernails, and ear wax were sold as medicine in 16th century China, and were used in Chinese traditional medicine for centuries.

The stadium in Santiago where the game was to be played had just been used as an open-air prison and torture chamber by right-wing dictator Augusto Pinochet, who overthrew the democratically-elected government of Salvador Allende in 1973. Famed Chilean guitarist Victor Jara had recently been tortured and murdered there. Not a fun place.
