Fat in sewers is a problem, especially when there is trash in the sewer. A lot of wipes labeled “flushable” are not. For more information, go to http://news.google.com and search for “flushable wipes.” You might also search for “Fatberg.”

The New Madrid fault caused a series of 4 earthquakes in December 1811, January 1812 and February 1812, all of which may have been as powerful as magnitude 8. There were no instruments to read them, but they were felt in New York and Boston, where they were strong enough to ring church bells.

The torch in the Statue of Liberty has been closed since 1916, when a massive explosion of munitions on Black Tom Island caused $100,000 damage to Ms. Liberty, as well as damage totaling over $20 million. The explosion was at a munitions depot, and was an act of sabotage by German operatives. It is regarded by some historians as the first act of terrorism on United States soil by a foreign power. He was born in London, and, although it’s been removed, there was a statue of him in the square. The only remaining statue there now is the original one of Shakespeare, so, something to do with the arts…

Gustave Eiffel built the Statue of Liberty, designing the framework.

The dedication of the Statue occasioned the first ticker tape parade in New York.
