A former Fiat factory in Turin, Italy, was designed with spiraling ramps inside the building that lead to a rooftop test track! Didn't like the mullet? James Polk is the only US president to lose the presidential election in both his birth state and state of residence. We were dinosaur means terrible lizard.

Maybe nobody knew who Polk was. I remember reading that a rival candidate said “Who is James K. Polk?” during the candidacy.

1. The mullet was an invention of the 1970’s. Polk did not have a mullet. He brushed his hair back. 2. The mullet tends to be favored by blue collar workers. The prejudice against the cut is just white collar prejudice.

Is that supposed to look like Aldo, the Good Terrible Lizard?

Polk was responsible for the Mexican War, which included the famous stand at The Alamo – didn’t help his popularity, at all. I still have my ‘74 X1/9, with over 200,000 miles on it. All that’s ever been necessary is simple basic maintenance – regular oil changes, air filters, plugs, etc – have replaced 2 alternators, 1 water pump, and swapped in an electronic ignition system. The one thing different is to change the cam belt about every 25,000miles, but that’s an easy, completely external job, requiring no engine disassembly, and just a few basic hand tools. Drove it to the east coast and back, carrying two of us with luggage, in ’77, without so much as a hiccup, and averaged better than 30 mpg.
