Historically, the Nile River has frozen over at least twice! Not so good! In 1966, Thomas J. Bayard invented a vibrating toilet seat! Norwegian daredevil Morten Blien rode a snowmobile 131.7 miles from the surfaces of the Karasjok and Tana Rivers in Finnmark, Norway!

Can Morten even snowmobile over the that Egyptian river the next time it freezes over? I’m also not even sure the Japanese would like Thomas’ toilet.

I googled ol’ Mort, seems as the water was liquid. The snowmobile appears to be a jet ski with treads and skis on front.Looks like it will float. Looking at other pictures of these events, it appears to be just good ol’ rednecks looking for an excuse to tear up the environment and make a lot of noise. An aside, ol’ Mort took some bananas along for the ride.212 km for the civilized readers.

Folks up in Michigan race snowmobiles on lakes and rivers all the time, I’m getting a kinda ‘so what’ feeling about this one.

But they were probably frozen unlike the one in the story.
