Every year, hundreds gather in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, for Blobfest a celebration of The Blob, in 1958 horror movie about a giant mass of goop that threatens to devour a town! Fifty years today! Cortlandt Hull of Bristol, Connecticut, has been curating classic monster movie culture at the Witch's Dungeon for 50 years- beginning at just 13 years old! Cortlandt is the great nephew of actor Henry Hull, who played the Werewolf of London. Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois, staged a 5K race and hired actors to dress up as well known people who had been buried in the cemetery!

What a way to honor your granduncle, Cortlandt (and what an unusual given name you have too).

So what well known people could there possibly be in a Peoria cemetery?

Werewolf of London! One of my favorite 1930’s horror flicks. If you go to the Blobfest you’ll see The Blob being shown at the theater from the movie, and then you can go to the diner that’s shown in the movie. Kind of neat.

A salute to dear friend, the late Kate Phillips (Kay Linaker when she was acting) who scripted “The Blob”!
