We wish you a Merry Christmas!!! The carol We Wish You A Merry Christmas was originally sung loudly by lower-class crowds- as a threat! The tallest Christmas tree ever cut was a 221 foot Douglas fir, displayed in 1950 at the Northgate Shopping Center in Seattle, Washington. British illustrator John Callcott Horsley produced the first Christmas card in 1843. Christmas trees are grown for about 15 years before they are sold!

Back then the carol had a line mentioning something about forking over your wallet if you wanted to stay alive.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas does have the demand for figgy pudding and a cup of cheer, then a verse saying, “We won’t go until we get some” which always struck me as rather demanding.

Well, one thing those Christians who read the bible don’t remember when they put up Christmas trees …
Idols and the Living GodJer 10:1 People of Israel, listen to the message that the LORD has for you. Jer 10:2 He says, “Do not follow the ways of other nations; do not be disturbed by unusual sights in the sky, even though other nations are terrified. Jer 10:3 The religion of these people is worthless. A tree is cut down in the forest; it is carved by the tools of the woodworker Jer 10:4 and decorated with silver and gold. It is fastened down with nails to keep it from falling over. Jer 10:5 Such idols are like scarecrows in a field of melons; they cannot speak; they have to be carried because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them: they can cause you no harm, and they can do you no good.”
