Why, pray tell, was soccer not lawful in the Magnolia State until 26 years ago?

They said it was illegal, that don’t mean they enforced the law.

I call B.S. on the soccer tidbit. I found one link where someone actually claims to have made that up as a joke and it spread. Similar to those lists that you get in email listing all kinds of “facts” that are supposed to be unbelievable (87% of all facts are made up..)

I’m looking for an MS link on a gov site to see if I can find the actual bill that legalizes soccer. Meanwhile, I’m saying not true. Otherwise all the schools (college, HS and Grade School that competed in soccer were breaking the laws).

On the other side, it could have just been one of those blue laws that every other state has and is just ignored…

Time line ERROR not withstanding, Soccer, was considered an “UN-Manly” Activity through-out the South. Thus who chose to play it were belittled and slandered for it .

Soccer WAS banned in England centuries ago, just to ensure that more youth practiced archery instead.

The soccer thing was made up online as a joke, and spread to many websites because people are too gullible.
