Well, we’re still in the summer of 2018. Is the Glasgow Science Centre’s roof still melting in that 32.2C-degree weather?

It is true that Bull Run was the first big battle, but the Civil War actually began with the firing on Fort Sumpter.

When I was in Japan I was amazed with the overpackaging of melons. One fancy wrapped cantaloupe was selling for the equivalent of 200 bucks! That was 1966.

I have heard that shopkeepers here have to deal with the “shrinkage” of baby formula and laundry detergent.

I have heard that Japanese melon sellers are now having their melons guarded by dogs. Collies to be precise. Unfortunately the dogs have started to get very depressed since they became melon collies.

The Civil War did not end with Lee’s surrender to Grant. That just ended the major conflicts in the east. Fighting continued in the west. The war ended by Andrew Johnson’s presidential proclamation on August 20, 1866.

The last battle of the Civil War was the Battle of Palmetto Ranch in Texas. The Confederates won the battle even though the war was already lost. It was fought May 12 and 13, 1865, on the banks of the Rio Grande east of Brownsville, Texas and a few miles from the seaport of Los Brazos de Santiago.
