You are using “its” as a contraction, in this case an abbreviated way of saying “it is,” not as a possessive…therefore it requires the placement of an apostrophe between the letter t and the letter s. No doubt you will now say something snarky…or blame this whole thing on the typographical omission of that cursed apostrophe.

A simple way of saying don’t eat oysters when the weather is warm. I guess they were more likely to be contaminated with pathogens during this time.
