So that’s why Winnie the Pooh had a girly-sounding name. I used to wonder about that all the time as a kid. Oddly enough, I didn’t question the “Pooh” name. I was weird.
The sad part is that the real Christopher Robin was later bullied so badly in school due to the books that he ended up hating the Winnie the Pooh characters and never talked about them to anyone for the rest of his life. What should have been happy memories was permanently spoiled by a problem that hasn’t been solved to this day.
“He’s Winnie-ther-Pooh. Don’t you know what ‘ther’ means?”“Ah, yes, now I do,” I said quickly; and I hope you do too, because it is all the explanation you are going to get.
The rent a Guinea Pig thing reminds me of my uncle’s funeral. Shortly after the funeral, we started getting a monthly bill from the local formal shop. Seems my aunt wanted him to go in style and rented him a nice tux.
I started to say that the Switzerland service would get more customers if they rented girls instead of Guinea Pigs; then I remembered every city has one downtown…

Is there anything about why the pitcher plant doesn’t eat (or is it “eat”) that species of fly?

Initially, the bear was not named Winnie but Edward. To set the matter straight.

Well, that Winnie explanation shoots down the theories of a lot of really strange people!

This still leaves much unexplained about the Pooh. If you’ll remember, this was a male as indicated by the “the”.

No-fly flies: Believe it.
Pooh Bear: Believe it.
Guinea Pig: Believe it.
No “or not” today. May Henry Ford be with you. (or at least Ransom Olds.)
