Jimbo: Well, old friend...I believe it's time for you to retire. Jimbo: You've served us well for many years...but if Rose agrees...I'm going to get a brand-new grill! Rose: You have such a wonderful bond with this old grill... Rose: I can't even imagine you barbequing on any other grill! Jimbo: What have you been saying to her?

She’s seen him looking at other grills… head turning when he passes one in the mall… thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s grill…

LOL … grill envy … unfortunately, even if the grill worketh well, the “grill” part of it may be aging and soon to come apart. I’ve seen it happen. But then, i have a propane grill and my mom’s old cast aluminum outdoor kitchen … both work quite well, altho’ the latter’s support system died on me .. LOL

The intense heat of grilling has a rather deleterious effect on metal over time. Those old kettle grills only last 3 or 4 years and then are bound for the recyclers, with another cheap replacement taking it’s place. Even the heavier department store lateral smokers like I use only last 8 to 10. The really heavy custom $2,000 jobs, THOSE last a lifetime!

the internal parts of a gas grill are designed to fall apart after a few seasons – especially when exposed to the elements day after day… how if you have a little hibachi grill from the 60’s, those STILL work just fine! … of course, there are accessories – gotta go to lowes … LOL

A True GrillMaster needs not the fancy equipment. Stay thee with thy present grill Jimbo, for it serves you well, and shall do so onward. Unless it is rusty, then is needs replacing, but if it is fine metal, then grill on.
