Corky has a fancy office job and Jimbo goes to work in a plaid shirt with a lunch bucket, yet they live side by side in the same neighborhood.Neither wives work and they each have 1 child…both must have great paying jobs.
@nikki….well put. Funny how those who have never had to do without are the first one’s to judge others who have to struggle to survive. I’m willing to bet that this “oldest” and their cheerleader Kydex are two such people.
@Oldest…the more I thought about your comment, I need to respond to more of it. In my original comment, I NEVER said anything about the women staying home other than their husbands must have good jobs. YOU were the one to take offense and infer I was bashing stay at home moms. I know it;s a job, but try and put food on the table with that job if there’s no other income being earned outside the home. All I did was wonder how two people with such obviously different jobs managed to live next to each other. Corky has a white collar job and Jimbo doesn’t. Their earnings should reflect that difference too. I don’t think it’s ever shown what kind of work Jimbo does so maybe we’ll never be able to assume what kind of salary he makes either. He might be the owner of a mill of some kind which would explain the work clothes and actually make a lot of money…
@sharon, You very explictly said, “Neither wives work”. The response was that all moms work. Shoot, my mother isn’t even a stay home mom any more and she works quite a lot, not just as a volenteer, but as a homemaker. It’s called “division of labor.”.You also assumed that both families are making equal pay just becasue their general spending is in the same ballpark. Maybe Jimbo and Rose own their home outright? Or maybe Jimbo and Rose live off of investment income and Jimbo works for fun. And maybe Corkey and family feel that it’s perfectly fine to live below their means and save. Novel concept that that is in this modern day….

Sharon and Oldest – peace between you! I know that neither of you intended to put down either stay at home moms or working moms.
There’s no point in looking for offense when it is not meant. Save your anger for trolls like WTF Cares!
