Rose: Jimbo, did you put your boots by the fire to dry?
Jimbo: No, Rose! They're still on the back porch! I'll get them now! I will track you down, boot thieves!
Squirrel: Remember our code of silence! Don't mention my name!
I’ve left wet sneakers on the doorstep only find a toad in it sleeping the next morning. My dog however must be related to the squirrels. My wife’s shoe is always somewhere in the back yard.
Roy Rogers once left a new pair of boots on the porch, only to have a cougar rip them up with its teeth. So he hunted it down, shot it, and carried its corpse back on Trigger. Dale asked him, “Pardon me, Roy – Is that the cat that chewed your new shoes?”

I found a dead mouse in one of my sneakers. He was still warm. After that, I dusted my sneakers with a scented foot powder. Talk about a hint… :-)
