We had one of those Silent Springs with no insects and thus no songbirds in Palo Alto CA they year after they sprayed for medflies with malathion. I hope they didn’t do anything that drastic where the Gumbos live.

@Mokurai: and they’re spraying for mosquitos tomorrow there, promising that it’ll be far less poison than that time.

Little by little we are poisoning ourselves. When we kill off the pollinators, and the predators that eat the pests, we’re next. Thanks Monsanto!!

And to see a variety of birds you need to be out early in the morning or later in the afternoon when they’re feeding and getting stoked up to stay warm all night.
