I came home one night and walked around the corner of the garage to see a skunk sitting in the middle of the sidewalk. Without missing a step I did a 180 and walked calmly but quickly right back to my truck and took a long nap to give it a chance to move on.
One of the many critters that lives on the hill behind our building is a skunk. He knows us so if he comes out at the same time my husband leaves for work at night there isn’t a problem.
They did well to avoid that skunk: they’re nocturnal animals. No reason for a skunk to be out in broad daylight unless something’s wrong—and I believe that might include rabies.

With skunks I’ve always been more concerned about rabies than with getting sprayed.

After a dog fought a skunk under my bedroom window, I not only had to wash the dog, but the brick wall of the house as well!
