Around here it’s the grackles that do that. When we get the heavy winds that usually turn into haboobs (what you call “dust storms”) the little birds go into hiding, the pigeons remain out but stay on the ground, and the grackles start doing stunt flying, making turns and showing off maneuvers that are impossible when the air is calm.
