If I were Jimbo I would definitely balk at that: Nobody touches my workbench without my permission, and anyway, It is dark down there and plants, as opposed to fungi, need light to flourish. Put ’em out on the porch.
Ah, yes. A drilling tale! He’s going to level with them, giving them the brass tacks and drive home some plane truths just as he saw them. He is ruler of his shop and wants no more screw-ups, The last thing he needs is some multiplier of mistakes chiseling into his work. Frankly, I think he has the right angle on this.

My wife puts our plants in the windows during the winter. They get natural light without the extremes of temperature.

Rose did good..Carbon dioxide which the plants need to make oxygen is 1.5 times the weight of air which makes it gravitate down to the basement..
