An endearing image, but I’ve seen some wonderful and loving teachers tire themselves into early graves by not taking enough time for themselves. I learned from them to go the extra mile for my own students, but also to keep a healthy work-life balance. Shel Silverstein’s “Giving Tree” could have had so much more to give if it had only set proper boundaries.

I agree with EVERY statement expressed here. I went through it twice- once with my two girls, once with my grandson that we cared for for 5 years.
