It could be a lot worse. It could be lightning bolt effect.

Fireflies are able to generate a bright light to attract mates…

    They have “hi” beams!

What’s the opposite of a waterfall?

    A firefly…

I love lightning bugs but my mom used to have a house that had too many she had a tree lined stream at the bottom of her garden and the lightning bugs loved it for breeding. in late june they would fill the trees like a huge xmas display in yellow/green. it was a little intimidating. I mean so many there wasn’t any noticeable blinking,

In 1940, Chatham NJ I was one of the many kids collecting them in a bottle at dusk. That ended when Trucks came by spraying DDT to kill Mosquitoes.

Here on the North Coast of the USA, we had a few fireflies each evening for many nights in mid-July, then a much larger number for a few nights. Now there have not been any since the nights turned cooler.

Ah, those little critters are truly magical, for people of all ages but those who are sadly jaded.

Fireflies spend the first two years of their lives in leaf matter and on the ground. If you rake up the leaves or use bug spray, you eliminate their habitat. Look it up, https://www.firefly.org/firefly-habitat.html and https://www.bhg.com/news/certified-firefly-habitat/

Rose’s adult to child synchronisation with bioluminescence is charming. No wonder the Gumbos are the happiest lot.
