Um-hm….a coworker was playing with his grandchild and she was doing cartwheels and other tumbling moves. Got grandpa down on the floor with her to do a somersault, easy peasy. Right? Every single vertebra from his head to tailbone popped, loudly! Innocent little grandchild looked quizzically down at grandpa and asked if he was alright. Trying hard not to alarm the little imp he replied, “I’m fine, grandpa just needs to lay here for a little while thats all.” Tru story!
We used to live in Colorado Springs. One year we went sledding on the dunes on cardboard boxes. The kids were about 10 or so. It hadn’t snowed a lot, but was still good fun.
CAREFUL, FRIENDS!!! I went sledding in my 20s and DIED FROM HITTING AN ICE PATCH! Briefly of course, but NEVER, EVER SLED ON YOUR STOMACH!!! . . . EVER!!!
When I was in graduate school I remember reading a long article in the student paper detailing the efficacy of tater tots to lubricate cafeteria trays for proper sledding
A rare sighting of Clem. And he’s not being a hog today!I first met this strip when it was well established. When I learned of this site, and went back into the archives, I was stunned to learn that Clem had an actual, visible father—who looked (and acted) like a giant economy-sized Clem. He disappeared after a few years, along with Rose’s father. I had always thought that Clem got his looks and his hoggish attitude from his mother, as seen in a “Rose returns to childhood” story arc.I have always wondered if Fanny is a rich widow, or divorced with a hefty settlement, or if it’s simply that Clem’s father works three full-time jobs to keep his son in expensive toys.

The problem with cardboard is that once it get wet it turns to mush.

My Granddaughter and my grandson-in-law took their two little ones skiing yesterday. She sent me pictures. Theo is 3 and JoJo is 20 months. Adorable.

I never had a sled, but could always find a big piece of cardboard, even if it wasn’t a box.

I used to pile the couch cushions at the bottom of the stairs, and ride down in a cardboard box!

Now that brings back memories. In fact if the hill is steep enough all you need is grass to slide on.

we got the bottom of the box wet and let it freeze overnight. Ice on ice was very slick.
