Too bad he wasn’t trying for the hand-grenade stand instead.

That would be ironic, if his dying breath was on a cigar.

The first time I heard the phrase “Close but no cigar” was from a guy from New Jersey in 1969.At fairs and carnivals they used to give out cigars as prizes and if you were close to winning you got nothing.

Combining two well known phrases…Sometimes a cigar is just a good joke.

Maybe they think he’s dead.
