I never understood why (or how) women would put up with uncomfortable shoes for even a little while. What I do know is that you can ruin your feet for life if you force them into unnatural shaped shoes too often or too long.
I do get why some short women… and men… use shoes with some lift to them, but those shoes do not have to be uncomfortable.
I was short and my mom and I wore the same size so I got to wear her heels. I learned early on to walk in them, jump, dance etc. In my later years my nickname “Goody two shoes” as I wore the pump shoes that were very high and my co-workers were amazed at my antics in them.

High heels are for wearing, not walking. Let your imagination fill in the rest.

I don’t consider loafers sensible. Lace ups with arch support.
