I bought two peach trees and a fig tree in Santa Cruz, which is a college town. For actually growing the food, though, you want to go up or down the coast a bit, like where there is—still—a farmstand with an old sign saying artichokes 10/$1. A little further south, the strawberry fields in Watsonville. Good times.
