    Insurance companies are actually the ones who forced all these changes. They got tired of making payouts, so they quit insuring playgrounds that didn’t have the rubber. Of course, falling on concrete isn’t great, but it generally is survivable. My kids, even in the “coddled” 2000s and 2010s, still managed to break several bones, ride bikes, climb trees, and skate on the pond with other kids.

    At 5, I used to walk to school in NYC. At 7 or 8, I rode the subway by myself. The world has certainly changed.

    And yet we allow those SAME parents to raise their children with ridiculous ideas such as White Nationalism or Religious intolerance – I’ve always maintained that Aldous Huxley had the right idea in “Brave New World” (which was in no way a “dystopian” novel, in my opinion).
