I often wonder if we all have at least minor OCD-like qualities – and I don’t mean to take away from people with full-blown OCD. That’s a tough life to live. But we all go through lives sometimes on automatic pilot that maybe part of the brain that deals with OCD is like, “Well, I’m going to have a little bit of fun now.” For me, it’s always whether I put my garage door down. Undoubtedly, I backed out of the garage and hit the button and caught a glimpse of it lowering, but it never registers so about half a mile away, I have to do a u-turn to verify.

Take a snapshot of the stove with your phone camera. Every time you feel the anxiety coming, look at it.

Find the panelboard and flip the stove breaker to “off”….

That was probably yesterday.
I’m pretty sure you didn’t check it today.
You better go back.

You’re lucky it kicks in so soon. I usually don’t start fretting until I’ve been at my job for an hour.

For years I didn’t use a coffee maker because I could never be sure it was unplugged when I left home.

I check everything three or four times before I go to bed. I guess there are worse problems to have.

Yes, yes, it all makes sense when you explain it that way. I’m glad I’m not the only one.
