    Yesterday mother in law causally mentions the small stroke she had. I then was in a panic thinking hubby had mentioned it but I hadn’t remember. Luckily, no, she hadn’t told him until two days ago that she’d had a stroke several months ago.

    Or, as Maxwell Smart would quip, “Missed it by THAT much”. Actually, the best real world example of this is the almost universal inability of people to remember a name when introduced to a stranger. We feel like idiots each time it happens but we keep right on doing it ad infinitum.

    Ugh it’s true. It’s like the harder you try to listen the harder it is to retain the information! And the worst part is, they can’t tell how hard you’re trying, it still just looks like you’re not paying attention! Why is being a normally-functioning human being SO HARD?!
