Yep, we physicists have been here before. Late 1890s we thought we had it cracked, only a couple of pesky little things to sort out, like the precession of Mercury (planet not where it was meant to be by a few fractions of a second of arc) and the photo-electric effect (electrons given out by some metals when hit with UV light). Sort them out and the physicists could measure things more and more accurately or retrain as economists. Took Einstein to figure them out. One turned into relativity the other into quantum mechanics. So here we are again. The best words in sconce are not ‘Eureka! I have found it!’ it is ’That’s interesting’.

Physicists would be the only ones who could explain it to mundanes.

We’re almost there, not because of discovery, but because the strengthening ignorance of the general populace.

90% of PhD physicists work for the War Department making bombs and other WMDs.

Are physicists being used like Soylent Green and being made into hamburgers or are hamburgers being made into physicists.
