Back when I was in graduate school, there was one floor of the graduate library where smoking and drinking was allowed…. it was a pretty massive space of mostly desks with divider walls between them so grad students could spread out their books (or library books) and sit and study for hours. It was helpful as a quiet space. I spent many hours there.
