Tough home life, Leopold. You must go through a lot of booze (or a lot of bullets).

@Uncle Bad That is how I interpreted it. He needs to drink to stand life with Gary.

Ditto the last two comments. Were Gary to greet Leopold with something along the lines of “die, vile demon!,” then Leo’s life would be a lot more bearable.

Okay, I think I got it now. I was thinking that Leo has to take a drink to deal with Gary’s pleasantries, but now I realize he takes Gary’s words as an affront and has to reply with an equally caustic comment. Okay, so I may be a little slow. It only took me 8 hrs to figure this out, along with the help of the above comments.

I’d like to send my compliments to the artist on a very well done strip, even though I’m afraid that would put me on Leopold’s radar. ⍥

Isn’t that Gary in the second panel? It seems to me that Buford is showing us the results of Leo’s “shots”.
