We posters all have been harping on this and now it has become a running gag: That big date he just turn down might have been again that lonely vampire girl!
Just for fun, I’m going to give this a positive spin. Now that Gary has decided he does not need the hassles of a relationship, he feels free to be more himself. No longer feeling desperate, he is happier and, ironically, more attractive. The cute vampire falls for him. They date, and it turns out she’s cool and not needy at all. Gary ends up in a happy relationship while Leopold gnashes his fanged teeth. It could happen.

Gary, you are a loser even before you lose! What a wuss this once-deadly vampire has become! And your suit is ugly, too….

Clearly (at least to me), the single life suddenly seems pretty appealing to Gary after witnessing the turmoil that sometimes accompanies romance.
