    Halflings here? I know of the halfling human-ghost who has attributes of both. Half-Human, half-elf maybe? No, I found this from Tolkien himself.

    They did not of course call themselves Halflings; this was the Númenórean name for them. It evidently referred to their height in comparison with Númenórean men, and was approximately accurate when given.[…]the existence of this people within the kingdom of Arthedain was known in Gondor, and they were given the name Halfling, or in Sindarin perian.

    per- is a Sindarin prefix denoting “half” also seen in peredhil-half elven.

    So them calling themselves “Halflings” is in error. Shame, shame, shame Mr. Jon Rosenberg
