He’s too young to understand. Just say “We didn’t get along.” When he’s older explain it further but there are parts that are private and even the kids shouldn’t know about. I don’t think I’ll ever understand fully why my parents divorced. It was their business, not mine so much. I wish they could’ve worked things out. I had to go through my teens without my dad and my sister had to pretty much be raised by a single mom. To this day she resents my dad since she only had my mom’s side of the story.
