Actually, a lot of great learning came from Persia after Europe was stuck in the Dark Ages. Algebra is one of their contributions to learning. Do not remember any others at the moment. Age, memory and all that stuff.

I believe Persians are actually a minority in Iran, with many other ethnic groups. It came up with “Who else would bomb Iranian nuclear scientists?”

Another answer might be ‘nothing’. Again, the zero was a reexport from India, via al-Khwārizmī. And since ‘algorithm’ is a garbled form of ‘al-Khwārizmī’, that is a candidate as well.

Uh, when my son was in Iraq, most of the manufactured products on sale there were from Iran. Skylar is at least humorous, as opposed to most Americans being ignorant and humorless about anything “middle east” or Asian.
