An old Doonesbury strip has Dylan wondering about people who try to analyze his lyrics, and he says “I just wanted it to rhyme, man”. Jimmy Thudpucker says “Now he tells us!”.
If you saw him On Dave Letterman’s 10th anniversary show you would understand. It is the worst performance by a professional musician I have ever seen. Words cannot describe. The other musicians playing with him are in total shock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YedNVVw8LD0
The first time my sister and I heard “We Are the World”, which was in 1985 when the song first was released, we thought the voice of the soloist immediately before the late, great Ray Charles was that of Eddie Murphy doing his Buckwheat character from SNL. Weeks later we saw the video for the first time and found out it was.Bob Dylan. We were both shocked. We knew who he was and had heard recordings of his music but he had never sounded the way he did on “.We Are the World.”Here’s the link for those who don’t remember how Bob Dylan sounded on “We Are the World”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4xQBrrTp4s . Skip to the 3:46 mark for Bob Dylan’s solo.

Too much traffic noise while he is out on the pavement thinking about lunch (not the government).

I have a Dylan-free 60’s collection. It’s also Diamond-free.

Regardless of whether you like or dislike Bob Dylan, you must admit he has been successful!
Although in all fairness, I am not sure Mr. Zimmerman really cares one way or the other…

I don’t get it. Would someone explain this one, please, other than by riffing on Dylan’s lyrics? Thanks!
