It’s been being said for decades and nothing has changed yet. Wait, that’s not true so I apologize. There’s far more corruption, isolationism, hatred, fear, racism, religious persecution, bullying, greed, and threatening going on now than I can ever remember so it’s actually gotten much worse and will continue to do so. I simply don’t see any change liable to happen yet. People will still keep Putin up with the same old crap, propaganda, and outright lies. That ol’ swamp hasn’t been drained a drop and the pond scum sure does stink more. And the price of that snake oil sure has gone up.
We had good and bad with EVERY administration, present day included. What I dream of is that we all get together, march on the capitol and lock them in a room until they figure things out! No going home until the job we pay them for is done.
It’s always been bad. They just don’t take so much trouble to hide it because they now have enough dead, imaginary and illegal people voting that it doesn’t matter.
@LINEMAN, I am kind of confused with you post, Please forgive me but I got the feeling that Alexandia Ocasio Cortes scares you? Thanks. (I’ll review later and see if there is an answer. and as usual, I could be wrong, Since I have been before)
I love history – particularly American political history! If one takes the time to study the governance and also the mindset of the population of the United States say during the 19th Century and early 20th Century, you’d be surprised just how venal, corrupt, bigoted, and xenophobic our forebearers were. Like a Shakespearean play, the actors, the costumes and settings, even the characterizations may alter but the core, the theme, the plot, the intrinsic dialogue, and characters remain the same.
The American public loved and hated Harrison, Hayes, Hoover, and Roosevelt with as much passion and vitriol as they do Obama or Trump.
The one difference in this Populist President and his predecessors is, that not only is this man a pathological liar of epic proportions, but he is emotionally unstable and temperamentally, intellectually, and morally ill-equipped to govern. To return to Shakespeare, he is the United States’ King Lear raging at the storms and blaming all but himself for his troubles.
We’ve lost a generation of politicians that might have been bad enough but that at least would “reach across the aisle.” Now we’ve got a large portion of the House and most of the Senate who will halt the government just like a bunch of six year olds holding their breath until they get their way. Both sides do it but the far right has patented their approach and screwed over anyone who isn’t stinkin’ rich. How much better off are you today versus 5 years ago? How much worse off are you? How ‘bout basics like you shouldn’t lose your house because you get sick? Or teachers shouldn’t have to buy supplies for classrooms. Or schools, prisons, and hospitals shouldn’t be run by stockholders more interested in profits than those institutions doing their jobs. Or votes being tossed out, hidden, and destroyed. Or lame ducks passing laws to try to restrict those that defeated them. This is being done by people who were elected and then perverted the constitution and stabbed America in the back while raiding its pockets. And these people are going to reach across the aisle? They want to bring the country to a standstill. Vote ’em out!

Never mind elections. The appointments are driving me crazy: just as soon as I learn one guy/gal’s name, he/she resigns and I have to learn another.

40 fewer nuts in Congress this upcoming session. Maybe 41 depending on what happens with that seat from North Carolina.
