Flipped on the TV this morning and what do I see? Skippy, on TCM, “based on the stories of Percy Crosby”! I knew it the minute I saw it, the clothing and the hands-in-the-pocket walk and the hat were unmistakably replicated by Jackie Cooper. Skippy’s story, apparently, is that his father was a doctor and he was from a “comfortably off” family, but palled around with the kids from Shanty Town (that’s what they called it — it was the ’30s) whose lives made them “wise” beyond their years as to some things, while leaving them unschooled in others. Absolutely delightful rendition of the comic. Jackie Cooper was the PERFECT Skippy!

This current string of Skippy comics is hilarious! Today’s comic strips just can’t compare!

I used to love bumping hard on a seesaw, a few times I did end up in the position Skippy’s in by the end of the strip.

So who’s the"big apple namer from Washington"? Google only gives me “Big Apple” and recipes for Washington apples.
