I’d say that if I had to choose, I’d not read the book. Reading it takes takes too much effort, while watching it will only waste a couple of hours…and if you fall asleep, it’ll be over, whereas if you fall asleep while reading the book, the book will still be there.
Agreed, however it is implied that this will be a not so good book or movie. In this case, if I had to make a choice, I would choose the least time-consuming of the 2, meaing not read the book.
