Spouse is currently “watching” The Incredible Dr. Pol while reading a book. And I’m in earphones to avoid the good Dr’s dialog while scratching my GoComics itch. But I do have a book open on the side table.
Back in 1776 we didn’t have time for reading Back in 1776 our forefathers were fighting for the right of every true Merican to sit on the couch, stuff their pie hole with chips and beer, and watch Television. It’s right there in the Declaration of Independence. You think I’m kidding, you check out any Florida or Texas public school history book.
I give my eyes a rest – I check out audiobooks from my local libraries. An app named Libby knows what I’ve checked out and controls the playing of the book on my iPod Touch. The Reader is very important! Listen to a sample to see if he or she is to your liking. I close my eyes and my mind’s eye takes me away, sometimes as an Egyptologist at an excavation :-)

When you turn on the TV, the opportunity to pick up a book is already excluded.

I get a couple of hours of TV time every night after I wake up, maybe 4 on a night off, thats enough
After work is reading time, comics first then a book
I’m on the third book of the Game of Thrones series, over 1100 pages
It’s going to take me at least 2 weeks, maybe 3

TV’s and the connection fees are a crazy expensive way to rot your brain. Library cards in my county are free. Read!!
