I think the larger picture is:
One is supposed to think happy thoughts in order to fly. So how is one supposed to do that in an airport environment? Even Peter can’t do it.
People can walk. Why do they want to use cars?
If he could fly, they would probably ground him for being under the influence of whatever it is they don’t understand…
